French Classic Furniture

french classic furnitureThis beautiful Louis chair was found at an antiques fair on the island of Chatou in Paris. The upholstery and the chair itself was in fabulous condition but the wood was dark, dull and uninteresting.

Finished in a subtle verdigris matt finish using a paint found in Paris that gives the best matt finish ever we transformed this chair into something special. All the carvings and swirls have been highlighted in copper and then treated with Ghost’s special smooth wax finish. As a finishing touch an amazing vintage applique of deep coloured velvet flowers (from Provence) has been applied to the backrest. The chair boasts its original tiny castors on the front legs.

The deep, deep buttoned seat is covered in a vintage shot silk in the most glorious burnt orange. This has been edged in a luxurious vintage tassled trim which perfectly matches the fabric.

Upholstered in a vintage Russian Linen with a herringbone pattern - this linen just gets better with age this is one of our favourite French Chic pieces.
